First before getting to the corrosion issue.
Keep in mind your boat will be sensitive to the
additional weight and more important the placement of it.Some small 14 footers have a capacity in the 700 lb range. It wouldn`t take
much to take a big bite out of that.
I would suggest placing some weight in the boat to see how it handles it.Keep in mind you also may be carrying your 300 lb buddy and his beer cooler.
As far as the deck 3/4" at least 5 ply plywood should be able to span between your seats.Without
any 2X4s if you need a little strength screw and
glue some 2X3s longitudnly to the bottom of the plywood.Due to the curve and flare of the boat I
think hangers would be difficult to fit.
If you can get away with just the plywood it would help keep the weight down.If you added some
short pieces of aluminum angle along the sides
it might eliminate the 2X3 braces.
You might want to take a look at the hydrilla gorilla site before starting your deck.
It is to promote a "how to" book but there are some pictures and it would be a good idea to have the book for help anyway.
