I am wonering if anyone has a comment on the idea I have to use solid cedar as opposed to pt plywood on the insdide and outside of my transum. This is going on a '57 Crestliner Viking 14ft. that is being stripped down to prepare for a bead blast job late this winter. This boat has a dash panel on it that I am making cedar as well and I would like the look to be consistant throughout the boat. Of course I will be sealing it with a marine grade varnish, but is this wood to soft for this application. I know that teak would be better, but this refurb job is being done for as LITTLE AS POSSIBLE in the money department. Any comments would be helpful.
