unless you are leaking like a screen door on a submarine, you only need one pump, one automatic float switch, and one power switch(which could be a simple toggle) when in water turn on power switch and float switch takes over. as far as brands they are all about alike. i personally run Atwoods from wallmart in all 3 of my boats. never had a problem. if you are fishing real rough water and taking water over the gunnel or transom, you need a bigger boat.
