I just bought a used 1987 17 ft' polarkraft bass boat and suspect that the trailer isn't made for the boat. The complete weight of the boat is supported only by the keel that rests on the two rollers mounted in the center of the trailer.

Should the hull of the boat be supported by side boards instead? Should the keel be supporting any weight at all?

It is an aluminum boat and Im afraid trailoring it as it is might put too much stress on it. thanks
