Zinc Chromate Primer?

I have an aluminum 1957 Cadillac 14' Daytona that has the remnants of what appears to be olive colored paint on the lower portion (floor) inside the hull. Was this some type of non-skid surface applied at the factory?

Although most of it is worn away, I can see the line from where it was masked when originally applied. I'd like to reapply this olive coating. Can I use aerosol can zinc chromate and expect good results? I assume surface prep is important so I plan to scuff sand with 150-grit then wipe it down with lacquer thinner before masking. Any other prep recommendations?
