I am getting ready to paint a new aluminum boat. What the factory told me was to sand blast or sand the boat, wipe down the boat with an acid etching solution, apply zinc chromate primer, then the finish paint. Others have said wipe down with vinegar then prime. It's hard to get the same answer twice...
