If your going to run running lights, maybe a radio and depth finder even a live well you could get by without a generator.A deep cycle battery can handle everything if done carefully
The motor itself doesn`t require a battery to run only to start so a small quality starting battery and a good deepcycle to run your accessories will serve you well.If running only a radio and running lights a good deep cycle will do well.We used to run or boat heavy all weekend lights and starting it would sit all week
and start every time on Friday I would usually forget to charge it until it acted weak starting.
I think we charged about every 4 weeks or so.
I tried to remember to charge it on Friday or Saturday every weekend or so but usually forgot.
I was 16 or 17 and had more interesting things to do.I think you will find a generator pretty costly and hard to find I`m not an expert but I think it requires a different flywheel of course a belt wiring,Generater, mounting bracket and the
toughest part the proper regulator. You could try Twin Cities outboards for used parts.
