There is a Ford solenoid that will work but be sure you get the right one. One type uses the frame of the solenoid to be the ground side of the energizing coil. One of the small solenoid terminals is connected to the large battery lead to act as a bypass around the ballast resistor in the car. YOU DO NOT WANT THIS ONE. The correct solenoid uses one one of the small terminals as the ground side of the energizing coil. This is normally connected through a safety start switch. The NAPA catalog used to have a diagram of the internal configuration of each style solenoid. Be sure you use the later style.
