If so, coupled with the log strike a while back, sounds like the rubber hub in the prop is slipping. It was likely damaged when you hit the log.

If the prop isn't mangled you can get it re-hubbed, but likely your best bet is a good used prop or new.

Now, if the motor is 'jerking' like someone is hitting the back of the boat with a rubber mallet, that's another problem and may indicate slipping clutch dogs in the lower unit.

But if it's just revving up without any other 'knashing and thrashing', that's a bad prop hub.
