Turn the driveshaft clockwise as you install the impeller in the pump. Be sure to put a bit of lube in there (don't install the impeller dry). I use Sta-Lube marine grease but Lubriplate, Vaseline, or equivalent will work too.

Any worn parts in the pump should be replaced.

Be sure to seal the mating surfaces of the pump with Permatex #3 Aviation type gasket dressing or equivalent.

If you still have problems with overheating after you replace the impeller, check the thermostat.
