I'm thinking you have the single power pack mounted at the rear of the motor, right? This ign system is, as Spike was surmizing, self-contained and the power pack is grounded to kill the spark. There are no +12V inputs to the power pack.

So, the first thing you want to do is lift the kill wire(s) off the power pack. Best to have a diagram for this, you'll want a Seloc repair manual or equivalent. If I recall the kill is a black wire with white stripe.

From there you'd want to eliminate the stator and trigger by doing resistance checks. After eliminating all of the above as potential faults, what's left is the power pack. Unfortunately the best way to check that is by substituting with a known good part.

Hard to do unless you've a bunch of spares laying around (ALWAYS a Good Choice........Brilliant!) Or was that Sam Adams, I forget! ;)

But, narrowing the problem thru eliminating all the other possible choices is an effective tool for the layman, in the absence of special (and $$$$$) factory test equipment. I agree with you that it's extremely unlikely for all the coils to go bad at once. I'm sure it's probably happened but not in many Blue Moons!

HTH and G'luck.........ed
