It is a 59.I only have a parts manual. It does show 3 terminals on the key switch looking from the key end with the terminals up left terminal is a white wire that appears to go to the solinoid.Middle terminal has 2 red wires one goes to the choke button. Can`t tell where the other red wire goes.Possibly to the hot side of the solinoid.Which might make sense because the red wire would supply 12 volts to the choke switch.White wire probably activates the solinoid which leaves the black wire as the kill circuit. Choke button has a green wire that probably goes to the choke. The 3rd terminal has a black wire On some motors the black wire is the kill circuit.Keep in mind most outboard ignitions are self generating and run with the kill switch (key switch)open when turned off the kill switch closes shorting the coils to ground.
This is all best guess based on what I can see.
I`ll be glad to mail you this copy of the 59 40 hp parts catalog. It has lots of nicely detailed
drawings with parts labeled.you can email your address to gsteele2@twcny.rr.com
