We can be pretty sure your motor was built by McCulloch for Sears. My 63 McCulloch Factory parts manual seems to indicate 2 carbs possibly
Walbro with fixed high speed jets. The idle mix screw is on top of the carb with a little cogged wheel. My 65 Service manual seems to indicate a single 2 barrel Marvel Schebler carb. The McCulloch 28 changed to walbro fixed jet carbs in 61 maybe the 45 did around that time as well.
Just trying to pinpoint the year.Look the motor over really carefully for a number beginning with 574.Try to get that idle down where it belongs as it will ruin the clutch dog if shifted too much at a fast idle.Parts will be really hard to find.Been out of business 25? years.Probably the best bet for parts would be at The Antique Outboard Motor Club www.aomci.org.And of course watch eBay as all kinds of parts and parts motors appear regularly.
While these motors are ok the scarcety of parts makes it questionable as an everyday motor.
