The ignition stator is the part that is common to all 3 cylinders. In the early 70's engines these were also the most common part to fail. It is mounted under the flywheel. The old most problematic style stator had two black charge coils mounted on the frame of the alternator (multi-pole open windings. These failed extremely often. The replacement and much more reliable style stator was both charge coils and all the alternator windings totally encapsulated in a green epoxy. If you have the original style stator do yourself a favor and replace it with the new style. They cannot be repaired.
