Bob, spread a thin coating of Permatex #3 on the lower unit area where the pump plate contacts.
Also on the pump housing where it contacts the impeller plate.
If you 'screw' the impeller into the pump housing first, then apply the Permatex on the pump housing sealing surfaces, you won't get any Permatex on the impeller when you assemble. Be sure to turn the impeller in the same direction as driveshaft rotation when you put it in the pump body.
If you orient the impeller such that its keyway faces you when you assemble the pump to the lower unit, and also face the driveshaft key towards you, it'll be easier to line up the impeller with the driveshaft key.
Also 'paint' the pump mounting screws with Permatex and they'll never sieze up in the pump body.
