Shawn: Your outboard was built for Sears by Tanaka. It was their TOB 300. When you say that it runs for 10 min. and then quits, how long does it take before it will start again. I believe this engine still uses the breaker point system of ignition. I have experienced this problem when the coil breaks down fron heat and when the engine cools off a little it would start and run a while. I have also experienced this, but not too often, with spark plugs. From what little info. you gave it doesn't sound like a fuel problem but I wouldn't rule this out completely. To do some trouble shooting for your self you can put your outboard in a test barrel and run it until it quits then quickly check for spark. Otherwise you will have to check out the coil some way. The carbs in these engines are not like the usual carbs used in outboards. They are like the carbs in "weed whackers/trimmers" and other portable small 2 cycle equipment. Generic outboard service manuals cover these outboards. Also you can search Tanaka's web site. They no longer make the TOB 300 but have parts and manuals and parts break downs.tanaka-usa.com.
