I'm thinking I would install a new carb kit, and not worry about using the old float. When I rebuild a carb, normally I install the float, turn the carb upside down. Adjust the hieght of the float until it is parallel with the bottom of the carb surface where the bowl contacts.. I think a carb kit is still less than $15
