65 9.5 johnson floods with water[ Ol' Paw's Boat Motor Bulletin Board ] [ Ol' Paw's Fishing Page ] Posted by ken Nasty (205.188.208.5) on November 06, 2003 at 16:05:09: I have a 65 Johnson 9.5 that when I got it it overheated because it was not pumping water. It turned out it needed a headgasket. I replaced the headgasket and it pumped plenty of water. I took it out on the lake and ran it. Ran great till I got to my favorite fishing hole and shut it down for a half hour or so. When I went to pull it over the pull rope would not budge. Turns out there was water in the lower clyinder. I pulled it over a few times with the plug out to get the water out and got it going. I cruised around for an hour before I took it to the ramp. I got home and figured I'd give it a pull. Same problem. I have used the boat at least 4 times with this happening sometimes. Not always. Any ideas? It runs great and always pumps a bunch of water. Thanks! Ken
