I have a 9.9 evinrude on a 14ft wide deep john. my buddy has 9.9 merc on 16ft wide deep john and it is about 3 or 4 mph faster that mine. This thing is slow. top speed about 8 mph loaded with dog decoys and 2 men. Motor runs fine and is smooth. just slow. Is this normal or could it be a worn prop. Motor is 1989 model and has original prop on it.
