Is the motor a full gearshift or just neutral? If it is full gearshift it definately pumps in neutral and I`m pretty sure the neutral motor does as well.I`m pretty sure it is the Clinton built motors that don`t pump in neutral. If the motor is full gearshift there should be a bulge about 2/3 of the way down the leg. Most motors will have the pump in the the same spot but may not have a bulge. There are usually four bolts at the bulge and the lower unit will come apart there. Keep in mind that whatever design when you pull it apart there is the drive shaft,a water tube and some sort of shift mechanism that need to be unhooked to get it apart.Usually the drive shaft and the water tube will slide out but the shift usually has a coupler or a cable that needs to be unhooked.Sorry I can`t be more specific but the age of your motor is just outside of the more common shared designs. You could ask for help at www.aomci.org. Thay may be able to help with locating parts as well.
