The water pump is located behind the prop. It's a wobbler, displacement rotor mounted on the propshaft. They wear quickly in sandy waters. See the Oliver Cyberspace Museum for replacement impellers.

Note that exhaust gases that accumulate in the water when you are running in a barrel can cause loss of pumping / suction in the cooling systems.
