thanks again. it has bearings in the bottom. pretty much my problem is the O-ring around the bearing by the prop, at least it's eaten and that's what is obviously wrong. Like you said, it's old and it was free so i'm not hoping for top of the line results. it just struck me odd that the boat shop guy really didn't want to help me out.

It runs now which is pleasing as i've never done a project like this before. it's waaay smokey, perhaps seafoam has that effect? I am running a medium mix of oil, somewhere around 32:1 if i have to guess. I expect some but there's a cloud that'll be quite noticable on the water.

it's model fde-12. sorry i kept forgetting that.
