Thanks for the reply. I believe your motor is a 1945 Sea King according to Peter Hunn's book I just purchased. My carb does not have a filter screen in bottom of the bowl. As far as adjusting the float level, it seems that it can't be done because there are 2 clips that fit on the stem. The one on the bottom controls and limits the up & down travel of the stem and there is another clip at the top of the cork float that limits the travel of the cork when gas in in the float bowl.

I think I got the valve to seat. No fuel comes out the top of the bowl when fuel line is shut off, but when fuel line is opened fuel will then leak out the top of the car bowl. I do not know if this is normal or if I still have a problem. Any information as to whether leakage with fuel line open is a normal condition would sure help!
