I will take a shot at this one. I have dealt with a few sumberged motors. You say that it smokes abnormally and your getting black colored fluid running out of the exhaust. This could be caused by several things. Lets start with the easiest. 1)Cold spark plugs or one partially fouled causing a "miss" This would tell you you are not burning all the fuel/oil mix. This would contribute to your smoke and oil residue. 2)Weak ignition components. This could possibly be caused form corosion (after being dunked) on a ground wire. Check your ground wire on you CD Pak and all other ground wires. 3) Maybe you still have a little water in your fuel system, remember water is heavier than gas, and will stay on the bottom of a carburetor bowl, until the demand for fuel is great enough that it starts to really pull fuel out of the carb. In turn you may be sucking tiny water droplets up with your gas/oil mix. On that smae token, a few weeks ago, I went through a 9.9 Johnson that had been submerged for a few weeks. I drained the entire fuel system. It was completely full of water. No gasoline left in it. 4) Another thing may be that somehow the exhaust tube is partially blocked. If your getting the proper amount of fuel and air, but it cant escape the engine efficiently after it is consumed, it may be causing a build up in the tube until it finds its way out. This would also cause poor performance and excessive smoke. Just a few things that come to mind you may want to check. My expirience is to look for the obviouse first, then go from there. Hope I helped Pat
