Well Joy the Whirlaway is one of the best rod and reel combo's I have ever fished with. I think they are fantastic, but don't seem to be much of a demand for them. My cousin bought a brand new one in 1957, which I have now, for $75.00. I have six of them now, all different types. Some the handle is turned backwards to open the bail up for casting and some the handle has a spring that your pull outward and slide the handle around to the rear of the housing to cast, then move it back up to reel in. Does yours have the setting on the very bottom to set the drag or is it one that the drag has been preset? As far as the steel rods, I have 27 of them, different models and all but they just aren't worth much at all. To many of them were made.
